Classic Golf Club
4908 208th Street East, Spanaway, WA 98387
A Classic Quote: Amateur phenom Ryan Moore, winner of this years U.S. Amateur Championship, NCAA Division I title, the U.S. Public Links Amateur Championship and the Western Amateur; "After growing up at the Classic, the likes of Wing Foot, Oakmont and Augusta don't scare me a bit."
For those of you that truly appreciate fine course design and a challenge, the Classic G.C. will truly leave you in wonder. Recently a golf reviewer for Golf Digest played the Classic. After 9-holes he came into the clubhouse and said to Mike Moore (club professional and father of Ryan Moore) "I feel like I just stumbled across an old Donald Ross course. This place is a hidden gem!"
The greens are the signature feature at the Classic Golf Club. They have been voted "Best Greens in Washington State" several times in the past 15 years. The best way to describe them is to say that they are huge, amoeba-shaped and the undulations feel like a blanket that has been thrown out into the wind and frozen. You can easily find yourself looking at a 70 to 100 foot putt, over hill and dale.
Another distinctive feature at the Classic is its tight routing plan. Like Marion C.C., the Classic is a spectacular example of a great golf course on a small piece land. Built on a mere 125 acres, the course does not feel cramped, but rather, you will feel the intelligence of the routing plan by course designer Bill Overdorf.
Your game will wind you through majestic pines, around water hazards and afford you beautiful views of Mount Rainier.
Come out and discover the Classic Golf Club.
